After the rotor with variable geometry that contributed to the success of Richard Mille’s automatic calibres, a new winding device is introduced in the RM033. By using a platinum, decentrally positioned micro rotor, the barrel can be efficiently wound and an extra flat skeletonzied movement can be achieved.Read more ›
I also know that Harrison is a hell of a pilot. Not just one of those actors who owns a fleet of planes and thinks they are cool when they fly around a bit with an instructor. No, he takes it seriously and is a legit pilot. I also believe that he tends to fly with another pilot just in case things go wrong - not like he can't afford the co-pilot. My understanding is that actors like Ford prefer flying as a hobby because if offers them some welcome seclusion and peace. No one is kissing their ass, and no one is bothering them. In a sense, it is a way for them to get away a bit. Anyhow, as a pilot, he likely owns a few nice pilot watches as well (which could be anything from more Rolex, to Tutima, Breitling, IWC, Hamilton, etc...).
How else will the watch interact with your phone? First of all Casio says that you'll get an alert on your watch of incoming calls and text messages. I am not sure if this means that called IDs and address book information will sync as well. By just tapping the watch itself you can silence the phone from ringing or vibrating. Also note that this G-Shock vibrates in addition to chiming so that you can have silent notifications on your wrist. That is a great feature. Last, if you lose your phone (within Bluetooth range) you will be able to press a button on the watch to make it ring so that you can find it.

Those functions are a 60 minute chronograph and a subsidiary GMT time dial... and the date. Basically the chronograph uses two large centrally placed hands that are centrally aligned - for the chronograph seconds and minutes. The is sometimes called "central chronograph." The left subsidiary dial is for indicating the GMT time, and the right subsidiary dial is for the the time seconds. Aside from a GMT time that is a bit hard to read, the overall design is very logical and easy to use.Read more ›

For the rare diver who actually does submerge with a mechanical watch (as opposed to a dive computer) then feel free to bring PO along. For a long time Omega has retained the external helium release value on the side of the case. That with 600 meters (about 2000 feet) of water resistance and the Seamaster PO can go just about anywhere. The helium release valve is a bit funny because it is mostly here to add a bit of "cred" to the watch as well as offer an addition crown that makes the watch look cool. Call it extra-functionality or vestigial - it doesn't matter. It is a feature you'll never use but somehow feel better about having it in your watch.Read more ›
A large part of my watch fascination comes from being an art lover. Watches are art. They are tools first, but they are tools with artistic real estate. Appreciation of good design and quality aesthetics drives a lot of my commentary. This watch will repulse some and entertain others, but in my eyes it reminds me of cartoons. Back in the 1980s colorful geometric art became really popular. A lot of this had to do with the start of computerized design and graphics slowly taking over hand-drawn work. Organic lines started being replaced by straight lines, and the inclusion of computer graphics into the art world was rapidly taking place.
Zurich-based watch brand Maurice de Mauriac will now begin to offer a special new movement in all of their watches which are built to accept Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movements. Sourced from Concepto (the Jacquet family) the new movements are like super 7750s.
There are times that I wish I could have experienced the watch industry in the 1970s. Oh what an interesting time. Quartz regulated movements debuted in the late 1960s and was still an extremely expensive novelty which everyone was interested in, but no one quite knew what to do with. Mechanical watches still reigned supreme, and the era saw the creation of the modern sports watch as we know it. It was also a time of extreme optimism and experimentation from a design perspective. The world's interest in space travel and futurism was at an all-time high, and product makers began to have more and more materials to play with. It was a good time marred by some ugly designs and outrageous ideas, but the overall sentiment seemed to be positive.Read more ›
Not the first watch Edox made in its place as the official timekeeper of Class-1 powerboat racing, this new model is clearly the best. You see how I've placed an image here of one of the Class-1 boats. These aren't for stately wind-powered yacht races, these are all engine. The new Chronoffshore watch comes in a 43mm wide PVD black steel case that is water resistant to 500 meters. We've seen this case before but it still looks good, especially with its large pushers. It is hard to understand what the bezel looks like in real-life given these images. It is black on black? Black on lighter colored black? Hard to say.

I don't know if there is a definitive list of all the movies and shows Hamilton has been involved with, but there is a rather extensive list of many of them on Hamilton's website right here. Most of those are from the last 20 years, but it is a good list to look at because it indicates the movie, the actor, and the watch. For more images and info there are fan sites out there with more details - though nothing super comprehensive.

Few people are experts when it comes to the pricing and valuation of timepieces. This applies to many industries. The allure of luxury, performance, and presumed quality can mask what are modest underpinnings with pretty clothing. The bottom line is that many timepieces aren't that expensive to produce. They can charge a lot and not look horrendously silly because there does exists a substantial contingent of timepieces that are very expensive to produce. Believe me, there are timepieces that cost as much as a top of the line Mercedes-Benz and represent a "good value" given the costs to make them. Given the existence of these very cost intensive to produce watches, others attempt to bootstrap themselves to such quality players. This is despite the fact that they cost a small fraction of their retail price to produce.
